Technology & Innovation Zone Social Innovation
Our Vision
The University of Strathclyde has established a new Social Innovation Cluster within its Technology and Innovation Zone, located in the Glasgow City Innovation District (GCID).
This cluster aims to foster collaboration among researchers, industry partners, and communities to address pressing social challenges and act as a link between the existing clusters in tackling these challenges. The cluster focuses on three key pillars:
Inequalities & Human Rights
Developing innovative solutions to reduce disparities in areas such as poverty, education, and health – resulting in a more equitable society.
Mental Health & Wellbeing
Advancing research and interventions to improve mental health services and support systems to enhance overall wellbeing.
Communities & Citizens
Empowering communities through participatory approaches, strengthening social cohesion, and fostering active citizenship.
Driving social change
Building upon Strathclyde’s successful industry-led cluster model, the Social Innovation Cluster will serve as a central hub for engagement, providing access to academic and commercial expertise.
By leveraging interdisciplinary research and fostering partnerships, the cluster aims to drive social change and contribute to inclusive economic growth – much of which is undertaken in collaboration with our Social Mission Partners.
