Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, where you grew up and your career journey to date?
I am a proud graduate of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Strathclyde, where I studied from 2010 to 2014. After my graduation, I took a path that might seem unconventional to some. I became a Primary School Teacher in Glasgow, a role I cherished from 2016 to 2023. This experience enriched my perspective on education and its transformative power. My passion has always been centred around business start-ups, SMEs, and 3rd sector businesses. I firmly believe in the potential of business as a catalyst for change, driving both economic growth and societal impact. My journey has now come full circle as I've returned to Strathclyde, not as a student, but as the Entrepreneurship and Employability lead. Here, I get to merge my love for education with my passion for entrepreneurship, guiding the next generation of business leaders and changemakers.
What is your role at the University of Strathclyde and what are your main responsibilities?
I serve as the Entrepreneurship and Employability Lead. My role is multifaceted and deeply rooted in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among our students, and ensuring they have the chance to develop an entrepreneurial mindset which will set them up for a variety of careers and improve their employability. My primary responsibilities include delivering the Exploring Entrepreneurship Challenge (EEC), supporting the delivery of start-up bootcamps, and creating and delivering entrepreneurial skills modules for Strathclyde Careers.
What's your favourite thing about your role?
My favourite aspect of my role is undeniably the hands-on, student-facing nature of my work. Every day, I have the privilege of directly interacting with our students, witnessing their passion, creativity, and determination first-hand. It's incredibly rewarding to be a part of their entrepreneurial journey, guiding them, learning from them, and watching them grow.

Who is your favourite author?
David Sedaris holds a special place in my heart. His writing strikes a perfect balance between humour and heart, making every page both a joy and a journey.
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
I'd head back to the Appalachian Mountains, embracing the raw, untamed beauty of the wild. There's something magical about brewing coffee over an open fire, and nothing beats the simple pleasure of swaying in a hammock. Moments like these remind me of the simple joys in life, and I'm profoundly grateful for every opportunity to experience them.
