Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your career journey to date?
I grew up by the coast in North Ayrshire. I studied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde, graduating with a MSci before staying at the University to complete my PhD in Analytical Chemistry. I spent a few years in research roles, at Strathclyde and at Imperial College, before moving to Scottish Enterprise to take up a role helping life science companies to trade internationally and supporting international companies to invest in a Scottish presence. In 2019, I re-joined the University in my current role and it has been great to be back.
What is your role at the University of Strathclyde and what are your main responsibilities?
I am an Industry Relationship Manager in the Industry Engagement and Commercialisation team. I work with external partners, helping them connect with all the University has to offer and also support academics and University colleagues to work and build partnerships with industry. It’s a really varied role in which I have been lucky enough to work with different colleagues from across the University.
What's your favourite thing about your role?
I enjoy speaking to colleagues about their research and its applications. There is rarely a day goes by where I don’t learn something new.
What's your favourite food?
I love most food but if I had to choose, I don’t think you can beat a piece of fresh, warm bread with butter.
What fictional place would you like to visit?
Pontypandy – my toddler is a big Fireman Sam fan and I’d like to see just how well-equipped that fire station is.
