Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, where you grew up and and your career journey to date?
I was born and grew up in eastern Poland where I studied English at the University of Bialystok. I first came to Glasgow in 2009 for what I thought would be a Summer job. But I quickly fell in love with Scotland and this city – people truly make Glasgow! A few years later I started working for patent attorneys, Marks & Clerk, where I learned a lot about Intellectual Property. In 2019 I saw a job advert for my current role at Strathclyde and here I am!
What is your role at the University of Strathclyde and what are your main responsibilities?
As an IPR Officer I look after our IP portfolio from the admin side. I ensure all deadlines are met, invoices paid and figures reported. I also support our IPCMs in their daily tasks and liaise with licensees and academics on various IP matters. I also look after organising our Stage Gated meetings.
What's your favourite thing about working with Strathclyde Inspire?
My favourite thing about working with Strathclyde Inspire is hearing about all the new exciting projects and inventions. Some of the ideas that our academics pitch to the team have great potential to become life changing inventions!
Why should University staff, students and alumni work with the team at Strathclyde Inspire?
The Inspire team offers lots of support and expertise to help the staff, students and alumni achieve their entrepreneurial goals. Why wouldn’t you want to work with them!
If you could visit one place in the world next week, where would you go and why?
I would probably choose Bali, it’s been on my travel wishlist forever! It’s a small island but has everything you may want from a perfect holiday, depending which part you travel to. I’m planning to finally go next year!
What’s your favourite food/type of cuisine?
I love Asian food despite having never travelled there. The cuisine is so versatile and full of fun ingredients, and most dishes can be made vegetarian. I make the best spicy pumpkin ramen everytime I want to impress some new friends!
