The main activities of this network are dominated by the fixed and floating offshore structures and infrastructure designed using a variety of concepts.
These include the traditional oil & gas platforms as well as the emerging offshore renewable energy devices and structures to harness energy from various sources available in the ocean namely offshore wind, tidal and wave energy.
The design, life prediction and structural integrity activities are focused on the thorough understanding of hydrodynamics, fluid-structure interaction, material degradation, damage mechanics, inspection, monitoring and maintenance of these offshore structures.
The installation, removal and life extension of marine structures are part of the activities covered in this theme. Recent research activities in this area also involve carbon capture & storage, pipeline engineering and green hydrogen generation/transportation and storage.
