Hazaar: Strathclyde's Sustainable Marketplace

Hazaar is a marketplace app just for Strathclyde students and staff. It provides a digital platform that allows you to buy and sell your items from other students directly on campus - with no postage or packaging.

How does it work?

You meet up to deliver your items at designated safe ‘Hazaar drop-off spaces’ on campus, saving on postage and packaging, reducing the carbon footprint on campus, and encouraging students and staff to shop sustainable alternatives.

The Hazaar app is free to download, just sign up using your University student or staff email address.

What Is a Hazaar Re-use Hub?

Hazaar Re-use Hubs aim to reduce waste generated when students move out of university accommodation. The goal is simple: give thousands of reusable items a second life.

Collected items are sorted by the Hazaar team, with some re-sold to incoming students at affordable prices, and others donated to local charities supporting communities in Glasgow. Nothing goes to waste.

Student Engagement

Student Involvement & Jobs

We created 4 job opportunities for Strathclyde students, including:

  • 2 Re-use Hub Managers
  • 2 Event Support Assistants

This gave students valuable hands-on experience in sustainability, operations, and community engagement.
