EmployabilityDevelop your employability through part-time work

Part-time paid work is, for many, an essential source of income while at university*. However many students underestimate the value of the skills and experience they develop through part-time work. Interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team, and effective time management (for example) are all skills you will use in your graduate career. During a recruitment process you will be asked to provide examples of the competencies (or skills) required for the role and your part-time job will provide you with many to draw on.

The Careers Service provides comprehensive information about where to look for part-time jobs and information about your employment rights and advertising standards.

Strath Union JobShop advertises part-time work.

The Careers Service and Strath Union recommend that you do not work more than 20 hours per week during the semester.
