Camp America

  • Where: USA
  • Who: Anyone
  • Length: Camps usually last 9 weeks.
  • Cost: Can pay your own flights or have this taken out from pocket money. $800-$1350 pocket money given to workers after camps.
  • Housing included: Yes (and food)

BUNAC - Internships, Working Holidays and Camp America

  • Where: Australia, Canada, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, UK and US.
  • Who: Anyone
  • Length: Check BUNAC website as dates and durations vary.
  • Cost: Costs vary depending on activity and destination. Some opportunities are paid.
  • Housing included: Depends on the activity

Au pair

  • Where: Several destinations worldwide
  • Who: Anyone
  • Length: Self Arranged
  • Cost: Self arranged. Receive pocket money.
  • Housing included: Yes. The au pair is considered as a full member of the family during the temporary period of the au pair stay. As such, they the family with childcare and can be asked to assume some light household tasks. In return, the host family provides free board and lodging, as well as pocket money.

Workaway

  • Where: Several destinations worldwide
  • Who: Anyone
  • Length: Self Arranged
  • Cost: Self arranged.
  • Housing included: Yes. Similar to Aupairing, a workaway offers a more affordable exchange where hosts ask for volunteers to help with projects and offer accommodation or food and board in return.
