Departmental Exchange

Applications for Semester 1 and Full Year will open in March 2025

You can apply for a Departmental Exchange program if there is an established partnership between your department and another specific department, rather than a broader university-wide connection. This specialized program facilitates bilateral exchanges, which enhance both cultural understanding and academic collaboration between participating institutions.

The foundation of these exchanges lies in the relationships between faculty members from the two departments, who work together to ensure that the academic programs are compatible and mutually beneficial. Importantly, these programs are reciprocal, allowing us to not only send our students to partner institutions but also welcome students from those institutions in return.

The duration of the exchange can be tailored to meet your needs and the frameworks laid out in the partnership agreements. Options typically include exchanges lasting for one semester, two semesters, or even an entire academic year, allowing for flexibility based on individual academic goals and departmental arrangements.

If you are interested in participating in a Departmental Exchange, the first step is to reach out to the designated contact within your department. It is essential to understand that you must be formally nominated by your home university to participate in this program.

This nomination plays a crucial role in your application process as it confirms your eligibility and secures your position within the exchange program. After you receive the nomination, you will be provided with detailed information regarding the application process, including guidance on necessary documentation and any specific requirements needed to join the University of Strathclyde for your departmental exchange experience. This support ensures that you are well-prepared for a successful and enriching exchange.
