Summary

Scholarships of £1,800 are available to new students joining for September entry of one of our online programmes in the 2025/2026 academic year .

Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to candidates who demonstrate excellent academic performance (current and/ or previously gained) and any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience.

Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis. Awards may be allocated early in the application cycle and so making an early application for admission is advised.  

Eligibility

To be considered for a Faculty of Science Online Masters Scholarship, candidates must:

  • be a new student holding an offer of admission for an online MSc in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics for September 2025 entry.
  • be self-funded. Students who receive full scholarships, for example from a government office or embassy, will not be eligible.

Terms and conditions

  • Applicants must meet all of the above eligibility criteria to be considered for a Faculty of Science Online Masters Scholarship.
  • Awardees must register in an on-campus Faculty of Science Masters degree for September 2025 entry and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria. The scholarships cannot be deferred or transferred to any other entry points. 
  • Online Master’s degrees in the Faculty of Science are studied part-time over two/three years. The scholarship will be awarded towards the payment of a student’s tuition fee as a £600 award in each of the three years of study, or a £900 award in each of the two years of study, subject to academic progression.
  • Successful candidates will be selected on their academic performance (current and/or previously gained), any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience alongside their scholarship application form.
  • Scholarship recipients will be expected to engage with online student ambassador activities during their course of study, such as supporting online student recruitment activities. 
  • The awards are available for an online masters only, on campus master’s degrees are not eligible.
  • Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis. Awards may be allocated early in the application cycle.
  • The deadline for consideration is 31 August 2025.
  • Applicants who have been awarded a scholarship will be notified within four weeks of submitting a scholarship application form. Applicants who have not been notified of receiving a scholarship within four weeks of application will remain under consideration for an award until 31 August 2025.
  • Students are only eligible to hold one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
  • The Faculty of Science's decision on the awarding of scholarships is final. Appeals will not be considered.
