Girls’ Night In is back by popular demand for for 2025

After an incredible response last year, Girls’ Night In is returning to Strathclyde Sport on Thursday 6th March! This women-only event is designed to create a fun, welcoming, and supportive space where you can get active, try something new, and connect with other women.

The event takes place at Strathclyde Sport on Thursday 6th March from 5.30pm to 10.00pm, and is free to all women, including non members. 

Whether you're looking to lift weights, unwind in a yoga session, try out a new game, or just explore what’s on offer, this is your chance to experience Strathclyde Sport like never before. 

For one night only, Strathclyde Sport will be open exclusively for women, offering a packed schedule of sports, fitness classes, taster sessions, and wellbeing activities. No experience is needed; just come along, get involved, and have a great time! 

We’ve lined up an exciting range of activities, so whether you prefer high-energy workouts, skill-based sessions, or something a little more social, there’s something for you: 

  • Try your hand at pickleball, badminton, squash, volleyball, handball, basketball, futsal, and ultimate frisbee. 
  • Get moving with yoga, Pilates, Turned Up Fitness, HIIT, and spin. 
  • Take part in weightlifting and self-defence classes to build confidence and strength. 
  • Ever wanted to try cheerleading or another university sport? Now’s your chance! 
  • Enjoy a free massage and browse a selection of wellbeing stalls from health and fitness providers. 
  • The fitness suite and swimming pool will be open throughout the night for you to use at your own pace. 

For this special evening, Strathclyde Sport will be open exclusively for women from 5:30pm-10:00pm. Men will be required to leave activity spaces by 5.00pm and exit the building by 5.15pm. Please note that while the facility will be a women-only space for participants, some male staff members will be on duty in operational roles throughout the evening. 

The event is open to all women aged 16 and over, whether you’re a student, staff member, or member of the public. No membership is required- just come along and get involved! Bookable activities can be booked from 3rd March. Please view the timetable for full information.

FAQ's

Girls Night In is for all women including trans women and any non binary people who feel this space is beneficial to them. We would ask for your understanding of this in deciding if you wish to attend. All women/female identifying/non-binary people are welcome.

Men will be asked to leave the facility in advance of the event (at 5pm) in order to create a comfortable space for women. 

Our data indicates that just 40% of Strathclyde Sports members are women. Feedback from our female members indicates that they value and feel safer and more comfortable in women only spaces.
