Teaching Interest
My particular area of teaching interest is Computing Science and Technological Education in Scottish Secondary Schools.
I am interested in the use of Digital Technologies to enhance the Learning and Teaching experiences for our students at Strathclyde to enable them to share their knowledge and experience when they leave Strathclyde.
I have experience of teaching in Secondary Education, Further Education and Higher Education institutions and have a collegiate approach to sharing good practice.
I enjoy teaching and working with students on our PGDE and BAPE courses I am particularly interested in promoting the use of digital technologies in the classroom. I believe Computing Science is an important subject and I enjoy working with our PGDE Computing Science students.
I am keen to learn and develop new pedagogies which will enhance the teaching practice of our students on our PGDE and other educational courses.
Research Interests
Research Interests:
I am passionate about the effects poverty and deprivation has on your young people and how it effects their life chances.
I recently completed a pilot study on the effects of deprivation on attainment in a Fife Secondary School looking at the impact the Pupil Equity Funding (PEF) and the Scottish Attainment Challenge (SAC) Funding has at reducing the attainment gap and widening opportunities for the young people who attend the school
