Personal statement

Tracy Atkinson is a Teaching Fellow in Digital Education within The School of Education, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at The University of Strathclyde. Her interests lie in technology-enhanced learning across Primary, Secondary and Higher education, spanning both theory and practice. Researching the development and implementation of effective digital pedagogies, the use of digital tools to enhance teaching and learning, and the impact of research and innovation on present and future practice. Research involvement includes exploring ways in which student teachers can develop confidence and competence in applying digital pedagogy to select and use a range of digital tools to enhance learning and teaching and increase productivity. Tracy is a member of The School of Education: Blended Learning Working Group. She is joint mentor for implementation within the School and for broader Faculty developments. Further interests also include the role of metacognition and self-regulation in relation to the use of technology to enhance, and potentially transform, teaching and learning ‘beyond the school gates’. As well as project managing the integration of digital education across the BA in Primary Education, she is also Technologies coordinator from PGDE (Primary) STEM. Tracy is a member The Scottish Council of Deans of Education: Digital Teaching and Learning Group and co-author of The National Framework for Digital Literacies in Initial Teacher Education. She is also part of a faculty-wide, Strathclyde Teaching Excellence Programme, exploring the use of social media and technology to enhance teaching and learning.
