How do I print?

  1. Send a file to print direct from a University computer or your own device.
  2. Add credit to your account online or in the Library. We give all new students £1 of print credit for free.
  3. Visit any available printer and use the touch screen to log in using your DS username and password.
  4. Release your print job(s).

How do I add credit to my account?

Please do not buy more credit than you need. There are no refunds for unused credit at the end of your studies. We cannot transfer unused credit to another student.

Where can I print on campus?

Printers are available throughout the Library, in centrally-managed computer suites. There are also printers at the Student Experience Helpdesk on Level 4 of the Learning & Teaching Building. Some can print up to A3-sized documents. Some can print up to A4-sized.

There is a plotter on in the Library which can print up to A0. The plotter is on Level 3 in the open computer area to the left of the L3 Enquiries desk as you approach it.

  1. Select 'Print options' from your document's menu.
  2. Select the appropriate printer setting. The default setting for printing is black-and-white double-sided. You can adjust your settings in the print options box of your document to print single-sided or colour.
  3. Select 'Print'.
  4. Use your DS username and password to log in to a nearby printer.
  5. Select 'Print'.
  6. Select the document you want to print.
  7. Select 'Print'.

There are two options for those wishing to print from their own computer or mobile device:

  1. Print Drivers:Install the print driver on your Macbook so that you can select the University printers directly from the print options box on your device. Download the print driver for Macbook (zip file).
  2. Upload printing: Upload your document to our secure webpage using our Upload a file to print (pdf).
  3. Email to print: Attach your document to an email and send to monoprint@strath.ac.uk for printing in black and white or colourprint@strath.ac.uk for printing in colour.

Please be aware that the default setting is black-and-white double-sided printing. If you want colour or single-sided prints, you must select this option before sending your document/s to the printer.

Using your own paper is not recommended. The University cannot guarantee the results of any printout on paper brought in from elsewhere.

Acetates should never be used on the University's printers. These will damage the printers.

If you do decide to print using your own paper, first seek guidance from staff at the IS Enquiry Desk.

Select MP Tray as your Paper Source in the Print Properties of your document. At the printer, load your paper in the MP tray before releasing your print.

When you send a document to print, you have 18 hours to release it from the printer. After that, they will no longer appear in the print queue. 

Visitors to Strathclyde without a DS account can create a guest account to print from their own devices.

You must have internet access to print from your own device. Please connect to the WiFiGuest network.

To print from a laptop or mobile device using a guest account:

  1. Connect to WiFi Guest network from your mobile or laptop.
  2. Go to Print Log In.
  3. Click on Guests click here to Register.
  4. Enter your name, then create a username and password.
  5. Click on Register.
  6. Log in with your guest account username and password.
  7. Go to the Web Print tab and upload your document to the printer.
  8. Go to a printer and log in to it using your guest account username and password.
  9. Select Print, then select the document you want to print.
  10. Select Print.

Log in to our print app to access your print history report.

You can copy on the University photocopiers/printers in the Library and centrally-managed computer suites. Some can copy up to A3-sized documents, some can copy up to A4-sized documents.
