Social Work & Social PolicyUKPRP SIPHER Consortium

Kat Smith has recently begun working on the newly funded UKPRP SIPHER Consortium, which is using complex systems modelling to try to achieve a shift from health policy to healthy public policy.  Kat is leading a workstream designed to understand how the three policy partners (the Scottish Government, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Sheffield City Council) are approaching a range of upstream policy areas that impact on public health, starting with inclusive growth, with a view to assessing how SIPHER might improve the role of evidence and enhance policy consideration of health outcomes. A full-time researcher, Dr Clemmie Hill O'Connor, has been appointed at Strathclyde to undertake research on this workstream and a second researcher will be appointed in 2020.
