Social Work & Social PolicySiblings, contact and the law: an overlooked relationship?

On Friday 25 January 2019, the Children, Young People and Families Research Cluster in School of Social Work & Social Policy along with Stand up for Siblings will be hosting a seminar delivered by Daniel Monk, Professor of Law at Birkbeck, University of London. He will be reporting on his recent research entitled Siblings, contact and the law: an overlooked relationship? The research examined the impact of legal practice and proceedings on siblings in the public care system through an analysis of over 100 statutes, case law from 1991 and interviews with 69 practitioners (judges, social workers, lawyers, guardians, IROs). It was also informed by the views of young people.
