New staff join the School 

We are delighted to welcome the following new colleagues to the School : -

Cara Jardine has recently been appointed as a Teaching Associate on the BA and MSW in Social Work.  Cara joined the University of Strathclyde in 2015 after being awarded her PhD from the University of Edinburgh, and was previously a Research Associate working with young mums experiencing poverty.  Her research interests include prisons and punishment, family life, social inequalities, and feminist approaches to research and education.

Gordon Mackie has rejoined the School as a Teaching Associate on the BA in Education and Social Services, having taught for the last three years at UWS (Hamilton). Prior to this, he was employed at Strathclyde for 14 years as a lecturer in Community Education fulfilling a variety of roles including Course Director and Placement Co-ordinator. Prior to an academic career, Gordon worked in a variety of field-based posts in Community Education focussing on adult education, youth work and community work and was latterly National Education and Training Standards Manager for Scotland.

Kenny Stevenson has joined the School as a Research Associate on the Equally Safe in Higher Education project. His background is in political science, and he completed both undergraduate and master's degrees in Strathclyde's School of Government and Public Policy. As well as ESHE work, he is also completing a PhD on British immigration policy and public opinion.
