Criminologist features on BBC4s Thinking Allowed

The School of Social Work & Social Policy’s Professor Laura Piacentini contributed to a vibrant discussion on BBC4’s flagship academic radio show Thinking Allowed on 17 May 2017. This is Professor Piacentini’s second appearance on the show having first appeared in 2004 following publication of her first book: Surviving Russian Prisons: Punishment, Politics and Economy in Transition. The radio programme discussed Russian prisons, human rights and women’s imprisonment with a new book on the subject by Professor Judy Pallot Professor Emeritus, the University of Oxford. The discussion also included Dr Jen Turner from the University of Liverpool who has recently published a book on prison boundaries in English prisons.
