Holyrood Committee’s work on Henry VIII powers features Law School academics
The Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee of the Scottish Parliament recently published its Inquiry into Framework Legislation and Henry VIII powers
Framework legislation, in broad terms, provides for the principle of a policy without much in the way of detail, leaving such detail to be provided at a later stage without the need for a further statute. Meanwhile, Henry VIII powers are described as such because they allow primary legislation to be amended by secondary legislation.
Our Dr Pablo Grez Hidalgo gave oral and written evidence to the Committee, and our Professor Adelyn Wilson (together with Dr Robert Taylor of the University of Aberdeen) submitted written evidence. Both are referred to regularly in the Inquiry.
