- Sociology of Religion Study Group ConferenceThe School of Education will host the next Sociology of Religion Study Group (SocREL) Conference, 10-12th July 2018, on the theme of Religion and Education.
- Tianjin and Beijing Visit
In July, 19 students from the School of Education and wider HaSS Faculty took part in a 2-week language and cultural programme at Tianjin Normal University, China. - National Languages Leadership Programme
The programme welcomed its largest cohort. Fifty-one teachers from twenty-one local authorities across Scotland attended a week-long summer school at the University of Strathclyde’s School of Education at the beginning of July 2017.

Mark Nitkowski, a third year Education and Journalism and Creative Writing student, has been awarded a Research Internship to work with Professor Yvette Taylor and Dr Cristina Costa on the project 'Undergraduate fractures and futures', exploring intersectional inequalities in contemporary undergraduate student experiences.

Professor David Kirk gave a Keynote Paper to the 4th International Conference of CRIFPE at the Palais de Congres, Montreal, Canada, 18-19 May 2017.
- Award Win for Unique LGBTQI+ Transitions Project
Professor Yvette Taylor from the School do Education, in collaboration with colleagues from four other institutions, has been awarded over £1m by Norface EU scheme to work on the 3 year project 'Comparing Intersectional Life Course Inequalities amongst LGBTQI+ Citizens in Four European Counties'.
- Vertically Integrated Projects Success at Georgia Tech
Scott Strachan (EEE) and Robert Collins (Education) recently presented at this year’s Annual Vertically Integrated Projects International Consortium Conference at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
- Word Wizard Competition
S1-S3 pupils from across Scotland took part in the national final of Word Wizard at the Scottish Parliament on 12 May 2017.
- Outstanding Research Award
Dr Anna Robinson from the School of Education was recently awarded the Outstanding Research Award by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy for her innovative work on Emotion-focused group therapy for autism spectrum: a pilot study.
- Chinese Exchange Students
Eight Chinese exchange students from the School of Education at the University of Strathclyde recently visited a school in East Dunbartonshire to share some Chinese culture with P4-7 pupils.

Dr Markus Klein from the University of Strathclyde’s School of Education and his colleagues Prof Cristina Iannelli (University of Edinburgh) and Prof Emer Smyth (Economic and Social Research Institute, Dublin) have been shortlisted for the 2016 British Educational Research Journal’s Editors’ Choice Award.

The multilingual talents of budding young poets from across Scotland have been celebrated at a prestigious awards ceremony in Glasgow. Jackie Kay, Scotland's Makar, presented the prizes.

- Strathclyde Academic Wins Best Paper Award
Professor David Kirk from the School of Education is one of four co-authors of a paper that has won the prestigious annual Best Paper Award of the American Educational Research Association’s special interest group in Research on Instruction and Learning in Physical Education.

In January, a group of 30 primary and secondary Post Graduate students attended a weekend of Continuing Professional Development focusing on Outdoor Learning in Millport on the island of Great Cumbrae.

In February, fourth year BA Primary Education student, Kieran Gemmell, will be visiting Norway as a delegate at the annual International Student Festival in Trondheim.

SCILT, Scotland’s National Centre for Languages, began a series of Business Brunches on 13 January 2017 at University of Strathclyde.
