Alastair Wilson and Dr Joan Mowat from the School of Education have been participating within a series of policy labs, organised by the Common Weal and hosted by the University of Edinburgh.

These policy labs have brought together a wide range of academics, practitioners, public bodies and charities, drawing from a range of different professions – teaching, social work etc. - with a focus upon the relationship between public policy,  childhood poverty, welfare and education.

These have led to very rich discussions which have been captured and analysed. It is the intention that this work will be published with the intention of informing Scottish public policy.
