The Contemporary Childhood Conference on the theme of Young Citizens and Society: Fostering Civic Participation was a big success on the 2nd and 3rd September.
The School of Education welcomed delegates from the USA, Australia, Europe, Asia and the UK. Prof. Laura Lundy from Queen’s University Belfast, education law consultant Iain Nisbet, and Aqeel Ahmed from the Scottish Youth Parliament provided stimulating keynote presentations.
Over the two days delegates engaged with presentations that drew attention to the need for the meaningful engagement of children and young people, with a large focus on realising children and young people’s right to participation.
