On 28 January the current cohort of students training to be language teachers through the university’s PGDE programme, met up with British Council modern language assistants based in schools in the West of Scotland to jointly plan an interdisciplinary project. By combining the assistants’ individual interests and skills and the pedagogical know-how of the student teachers the teams were able to consider what kind of topics and tasks would have the most impact on the target learner groups. The feedback from the session was unanimously positive so the intention is to hold a repeat event with the next cohort of trainee language teachers in early December.
