Tour of Tianjin (Latifa)

Welcome to month 2 of our blog! This month, our focus is on 天津 (Tianjin). Our blog will show you our favourite places (so far) in Tianjin.

Tianjin is a massive city, with a population over double the size of Scotland! Tianjin is famous for many things, for example, 天津之眼(The Tianjin Eye), and the Tianjin Ancient Culture street.

My favourite place to go is Heping district, which is right in the heart of the city. There are so many things to do there; you can go shopping and eat at Heping Lu, take aesthetic pictures at Jingyuan Gardens, or even pay a visit to St Joseph’s cathedral! Tianjin is a city that you will never get tired of- there’s endless things to do here! The Heping district is so beautiful at night! All the lights give the city such a unique ambience.

There are also many stalls to buy some unique items. The stall I visited was run by an elderly man who handmade every single one of the items at his stall- that’s some insane talent! I bought a little bunny that I keep in my room :)

Earlier on in the month, me, Bronwyn, Sonny and our friend Jenny, visited Tianjin Concert Hall to attend the Rachmaninov concerto. The concert hall was filled with Chinese art, and the concerto was wonderful! I would absolutely love to go back to the Concert Hall in the future!

Tour of Tianjin (Katie K)

Tianjin’s city centre is a magical destination, filled with stunning buildings and vibrant local culture. This beautiful city is just a subway ride away from our university.

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the city centre several times with my new Chinese friends, who have given me deeper insights into the city’s history and culture. Each trip has introduced me to a different side of Tianjin, from its unique blend of traditional and modern influences to its lively atmosphere and people.

The streets are lined with many shops and cafes that all look enticing. Each corner of Tianjin offers a new surprise, making each visit better than the last. The nightlife in Tianjin is amazing, turning the city into a stunning display of lights as night falls. Once the sun sets, the buildings light up, creating a beautiful atmosphere. The colourful lights highlight the buildings which makes the city feel even more magical than it is in the daytime.

My friends and I love to grab a bite to eat at Heping Lu, which is filled with clothing shops, as well as a variety of food options from around the world, as well as local delicacies.  As we entered the mall, the first thing that struck us was the vibrant atmosphere. I will definitely come back here for a shopping spree!

We hope you enjoyed reading our October blog! We look forward to next month’s topic, which is food! We can’t wait to show you all of our favourite foods from around Tianjin! 再见!
