A Day In The Life

This month has been an amazing experience, as I’ve really started to get a deeper feel for life here in Tianjin. The city is so full of energy, and every day brings something new to discover. However, with the colder temperatures this month, it’s been a little harder to find things to do outdoors. The chilly air can sometimes make it more difficult to enjoy the usual activities, but that hasn't stopped us from finding ways to make the most of it.

One of the highlights of this month was when it finally snowed here in Tianjin. It was such a rare and magical sight for me, especially since it never snows back home in Scotland. I also noticed something interesting, a lot of people were gathered along the rivers. Since it was so cold the river was frozen, everyone made it look like an ice rink. I decided to give it a try myself. At first, the idea of stepping onto the ice was intimidating. It felt a little scary, and I wasn’t sure if it would hold up or if I’d slip and fall. But once I was out there, the rush of being on the ice was incredible. I would have never of thought I would ever do this!

But the most important part was celebrating Chinese New Year. This holiday is the most important celebration in China it’s where you reunite with friends and family for the holiday. All my Chinese friends have back to celebrate with their families. It’s honestly amazing seeing fireworks everywhere you go and all the lights that are spread about the centre.

For all of us scholars, we decided to celebrate the new year together by going out for a dinner with friends from our university and class. It was a wonderful experience of all of us coming together celebrating Chinese new year in China!

The restaurant we went to was amazing the food was really yummy for the next scholars that are coming, I highly recommend 清真·古丽花儿·新疆美食(河南路店).

新年快乐!!!
