Professional Studies Advisor Colin Hastie joins Department

Department of Architecture welcomes new Professional Studies Adviser for post-Part 2 students.

Colin Hastie joins the Department of Architecture in the role of Professional Studies Adviser for post-Part 2 students.

Colin has had a long interest in the architect’s professional “Part 3” exam. He has mentored numerous candidates in practice, developed training programmes on professional practice topics, and has also been an examiner for the Architects' Professional Examination Authority in Scotland (APEAS).

A graduate of Dundee University, Colin worked for ten years at MAST Architects in Glasgow before setting up his own practice, Bruach Design and Consultancy, with a colleague. Colin has been a project architect across a variety of sectors, primarily residential, healthcare and office developments, and has considerable experience as a contract administrator and lead consultant on projects up to £20m in value.  While at MAST Architects, Colin was responsible for office training, quality management and implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM).

I am delighted to have been appointed as the Professional Studies Adviser for the University of Strathclyde.  Having worked in Glasgow for some time, I have seen the high standard of candidates who have studied here and look forward to working with them and supporting them through the next stage of their professional qualifications.

Colin is ARB registered, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), the Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA), the Scottish Ecological Design Association (SEDA), and is a BRE Certificated Practitioner in BIM.
