How did you make the decision to study at Strathclyde?
When considering universities back in when I was in high school, I wanted to study in a place that would fully prepare me to be a professional pharmacist in the future. Strathclyde stood out not only for it’s renowned pharmacy programme but also for its strong focus on clinical applications. Knowing that the course combined academic excellence with hands-on learning, I felt it would be the perfect environment to support my professional goals.
I chose to pursue my MSc at Strathclyde because of the exceptional learning experience I had during my undergraduate programme. My MPharm Pharmacy experience wasn’t just about gaining knowledge; it was about developing a deeper understanding and appreciation for pharmacy.
The quality of education and support I received inspired me to further build on the skills I had acquired here. In particular, two tutors left a lasting impression on me, Ian Towle and Pernille Sorensen. They taught with such enthusiasm and heart that I felt motivated to follow in their footsteps and dedicate myself to clinical pharmacy. Their guidance and encouragement played a pivotal role in shaping my career goals, and I knew that staying at Strathclyde for my MSc would give me the continuity and depth of learning I needed to excel in this field.
What did you like about your course and Strathclyde?
The opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios through problem-solving exercises and case studies deepened my understanding and fueled my enthusiasm for clinical pharmacy. Strathclyde’s supportive faculty and resources have been invaluable in shaping my skills and confirming my career aspirations.
What specialist knowledge/professional skills did you develop whilst studying the course?
Throughout my time at Strathclyde, I developed core competencies essential to clinical pharmacy, including patient care, drug therapy management, and problem-solving. I refined my clinical reasoning and communication skills, especially in my final year, where case-based learning allowed me to experience patient-cantered care.
What are your plans for after graduation?
My ambition is to work as a clinical pharmacist, using my skills to improve patient outcomes by optimising drug therapy. Strathclyde has provided me with a solid foundation in clinical practice and critical thinking, both essential to excelling in this field. The support and encouragement I received from mentors has prepared me for a future of lifelong learning and professional growth. I am also considering completing my PhD within the next couple of years
What would you say to anyone considering coming to study at Strathclyde?
The University combines academic rigor with practical experience, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by a passionate, supportive community. It’s a place where you can truly discover and develop your professional interests. It’s the place of useful learning!
What's your favourite thing about Glasgow?
Glasgow’s warmth and friendliness make it feel like a home away from home. The city is vibrant and culturally rich, offering a sense of belonging and a great community, which has been especially comforting as an international student.
Is there anything else you'd like to say?
Reflecting on my journey over these past six years, I feel an overwhelming gratitude for the unwavering support of my family, friends, and parents. This path to becoming who I am today wasn’t always easy, and there were times when I doubted myself or felt overwhelmed. But through every challenge and milestone, I was surrounded by people who believed in me wholeheartedly.
My family has been my backbone, encouraging me, lifting me up, and reminding me of my strength when I needed it most. Their sacrifices, faith, and constant love have given me the courage to keep moving forward, even in the toughest moments. My friends, too, have been a source of comfort and inspiration, sharing my dreams and standing by my side through every high and low.
To my parents, whose dreams for me have always been bigger than my own, thank you for your endless patience, love, and motivation. You taught me the importance of hard work and compassion, and that with perseverance, anything is possible. I owe this journey to the love and support of each of you, and I carry that with me as I continue to grow in this career.
I’m deeply grateful for my journey at Strathclyde. Studying here has not only equipped me with the skills and knowledge I need but has also shaped my aspirations and confidence in a way I hadn’t imagined. I’m excited about the future and proud to be a part of Strathclyde’s community.
