Creating state of the art facilities for drug discovery and development
The drug discovery and development sector is facing significant challenges which Strathclyde is addressing head on, thanks to philanthropic support for the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS).
The time – and cost – required to get effective medicines from lab to patient is on the rise, while the development process also has a significant environmental impact.
Strathclyde is seeking to tackle these issues with investment in a dedicated Sustainable and Accessible Cell Culture and Analysis Hub. It will create a multidisciplinary facility equipped with innovative technology for medical testing, and to analyse the impact and efficacy of new medicines. Not only will it help attract the next generation of scientists to continue their studies, it will provide them with the methodology and training to undertake their research in a streamlined and sustainable way.
Developing and equipping the Hub with state-of-the-art equipment is essential to underpin critical, groundbreaking research under the guidance Strathclyde experts, striving to treat and manage life-limiting diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, dementia and inflammatory diseases, amongst many others.
Your support will make a significant difference not only to the individual students and researchers using the hub, but to the public who will benefit from its outputs.
